WMR starts year off in Denton, Texas at the KART Southern Sprint Series Opener

(St. Louis, MO - March 14th, 2006) -- WMR traveled to Denton, Texas this past weekend for the opening race of the year with the KART Southern Sprint Series. this weekend would be the teams first year in the new TaG Jr. class with a BM jaguar.

Saturday morning started off a little wet with some light rain. The rain didn't last long, maybe 20 minutes, but just enough to dampen the track. After that the weather couldn't have been more perfect.

Most of the morning the team spent getting the kart ready to break-in the new motor. Around 3 o'clock in the afternoon we were able to get the kart on track for the first of 4 break-in sessions.

Sunday, we awoke late, too late. It was around 8 A.M. before someone came to wake us up. JR.1 practice had already started! While we couldn't make some of the changes we wanted to try we still got the kart out on track in time to get a good feel and a decent lap time.

In qualifying, we were the first kart out and set a fast time of 39.74. The pre final, we also won by 13.7 seconds over second place with a quick lap of 39.37. Our best of the weekend. The final, we started front row pole but right off the start the chain misaligned when the axle shifted. Our day was over. We came home 3rd out of 3 with the best kart at the event.
